My guiding principle is to believe that an equitable and diversified Pueblo is a united Pueblo. I have a lifetime of commitment to this city and to the betterment of its people. I have spent my life devoting myself to multiple avenues of the community, such as connecting and forming positive relationships with residents, local businesses, non-profits, and institutions. My longtime passion has been to participate in local government and I have bid my time to ensure the moment was right to contribute my values and skills toward shaping my community. I feel I am finally ready to devote my breadth of knowledge to this impactful position and to utilize my experience as a servant leader. I'm invested in keeping up to date with local issues that impact global change including economic policy and decisions made by the current city council. I feel that the next logical and solidified movement for me is to become an active contributor to my local politics.
Voters in District 4 expect transparency and accessibility at a time when trust in government is at record lows. My family has lived in Bessemer for generations and we are indigenous to this part of the world. I have organized in these communities for nearly 3 decades and I stand on the shoulders of the giants in the Chicano Movement, many of whom are close friends and relations. I have experience meeting with my community on their doorsteps and I understand the issues in an authentic way. I also have lots of campaign field experience and an extensive activist network. Most importantly, I have strong progressive values and the support necessary to stand firm in my convictions!
